High Altitude Balloons Return to Magnitude.io!

After a three-year hiatus, magnitude.io/ is relaunching our atmospheric balloon program! Tomorrow, we'll assist Waverly Elementary School in Stockton with their 6th grade stratospheric mission, ascending over 100,000 feet. You will be able to track the balloon as it travels down California’s Central Valley on April 29, 2025 after 11:00 am Pacific time at https://aprs.fi with the radio callsign KK6UUQ-11.

Students work with soda can-sized simulated satellites that measure acceleration, magnetic fields, light, temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure. GPS, HAM radio, and satellite trackers provide redundant systems to recover the payload upon return.

We’ll conclude the2024-25 school year with a late May launch at Healdsburg School in Sonoma County. Open to grades 6-12.

Come join us! Limited slots are available for summer and fall programs.

Magnitude’s HAB projects offer student-led experiences from concept through launch. Over the past decade, we’ve helped students successfully launch more than 60 High and Mid-Altitude Balloons.
