ExoLab / Research and participation
A connection
to orbit

ExoLab is a network of science laboratories connecting schools, science centers, libraries, and museums around the world to a live mission aboard the International Space Station. Each ExoLab measures just 10 × 10 × 20 cm, the same compact size as research payloads flown to the ISS.
Sensors in each lab track temperature, humidity, light level (lux), and carbon dioxide (CO₂), while a built-in camera captures an image every hour. The images and sensor data are displayed together, so participants can compare results with labs around the world and with the lab in orbit.
Powerhouse / Future Space
Student
Centered
Research
Launched in 2022, Powerhouse: Future Space was a three-year student research initiative connected to the International Space Station. Magnitude.io developed it for the Powerhouse Museum in partnership with the NSW Department of Education. Support came from the Deep Green Biotech Hub labs at the University of Technology Sydney, Fizzics Education, and Space Tango. Powerhouse-1 mission hardware is now part of the permanent collection of the Museum (Collection Object No. P.14881/1-1) Learn more at Powerhouse: Future Space
Australian Virtual Astronaut Challenge
Challenges and
Teamwork
Created in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education and Fizzics Education, AVA invites students to explore space through design. Its next chapter brings the program to the US in 2027.
